G.B. Burlotto

We visited G.B. Burlotto on November 13, 2025. The wines tasted were mesmerizing, beautiful, and really unlike anything else. As always, we absolutely loved all of them.

Tasting notes:

2024 Verduno Pelaverga: An abundance of pine and smoke lead the way on the nose, followed by notes of white and black pepper, rosemary, and fresh crushed cherries, all of which carries over to the palate. It’s spicy, energetic, fresh, and lively, with a silky mouthfeel, and a persistent finish.

2024 Dolcetto d’Alba: Pronounced aromas of black current rise from the glass and give way to pine, rosemary, juniper, and faint hints of bubblegum and cotton candy. The palate is extremely juicy with a super silky mouthfeel. It glides across the palate with a very fine tannic grip which gently coats the mouth.

2024 Barbera d’Alba: Aromas of licorice, black cherries, and worn leather. The palate is juicy, and perhaps a bit weightier than usual, with a persistent finish.

2024 Langhe Freisa: Beautifully rustic aromas of raspberries, cooked strawberries, blackberries, licorice, white pepper, pine, and roses, all of which carries over to the palate, which is structured with fine grippy tannins backed by bright acidity. Really nicely balanced. An amazing Freisa.

2024 Langhe Nebbiolo: Aromas of smoke, roses, white pepper, and tar, with flavors of crushed cherries, pomegranates, pine, and rosemary. Light and fresh on the palate, with a gentle tannic grip.

2022 Barolo: The 2022 vintage brought erratic hot and dry weather throughout the region. There were just 2 days of rain all summer, and when the rain finally arrived it was so heavy that it ran down the vineyards into the roads, and vines weren’t able to absorb it. For the first time, G.B. Burlotto opted to declassify their single vineyard Barolo wines, and put all of the fruit into Barolo classico. Despite these challenges, G.B. Burlotto managed to make a truly stunning wine.

Extremely pronounced aromas of raspberries, flowers, white cherries, and apples. Juicy and fresh, with super silky tannins, and pleasant acidity. This is immediately open and enjoyable today, and has so much to offer. A really beautiful Barolo.

2021 Barolo Acclivi: Incredibly pronounced and well defined aromas of red currants, roses, pine, bubblegum, anise, licorice, and tar, all of which carries over to the palate, which is structured, yet very much approachable, with lively acidity, and fine grippy tannins. A striking balance. Accessible and enjoyable today, but equally capable of long term cellaring potential. Wow, absolutely incredible.

2021 Barolo Monvigliero: Extraordinarily pronounced floral and fruity aromas of candied strawberries, bubblegum, flowers, red fruits, anise, and licorice with nuances of new leather. It’s classically structured, and as always extremely approachable and enjoyable today. Deceptively tannic, matched by soaring acidity, and absolutely perfectly balanced. As always, this wine is magical.

2021 Barolo Cannubi: The nose opens with fresh captivating notes of red cherries, licorice, anise, roses, and tar. The aromas alone make it impossible to put the glass down. The palate is powerful and structured, but still maintains impeccable, perfect, precise balance. The mouthfeel starts off silky, which gives way to long and pronounced tannins. Built for long term cellaring. We eagerly look forward to revisiting this in 10 years time. Absolutely incredible.

Thank You
