The next stop of our 2025 trip to Langhe was Rivella Serafino. This amazing estate farms just 2 hectares of vines and produces only 1,000 cases per year split between 2 wines; Langhe Nebbiolo and Barbaresco Montestefano. Everything from labeling to corking the bottles is done by hand by the husband and wife team, Teobaldo and Maria.
You can read more information about this amazing producer on Polaner Selections website, here.

Tasting notes:
2023 Langhe Nebbiolo: Fermentation in steel, followed by aging in large botti for 7-8 months. The nose displays rusticity, but also finesse. It’s very pure, precise, and direct and delivers aromas led by cooked red fruits, anise, and crushed cherries which gives way to new leather and licorice. The palate is powerful but balanced, and displays tart cherry juice and raspberries, with fine grippy tannins which coat the palate, and are balanced by energetic acidity. Persistent finish.
2021 Barbaresco Montestefano: Aged for 30-40 months in large botti, Teobaldo opts to release his Barbaresco 1 year later than the minimum requirement (2021 is the current vintage). Roses, smoke, coal, fireplace, and anise rise from the glass and draw you in. The palate is rustic, yet still displays great purity of fruit. It has a firm tannic backbone and is extremely structured with fantastic balance. We think this will age beautifully for many years to come.

Thank You
Grazie mille Teobaldo and Maria for welcoming us, and sharing your amazing and very special wines with us. We hope to see you again soon.
